The Knife return... well half of them.

Karin Dreijer Anderson (in case you're unsure) makes up half of the two year hibernated swedish musical duo The Knife. Although nothing has been heard about anything under this name, Anderson is scheduled to release her debut solo album, under the name Fever Ray on Rabid Records in March 2009. It's certainly shaping up to be good. First single, If I Had A Heart, was made available digitally last year on December 15th. The sound is quite different to the clear cut polished sound of the Knife, and certainly different to her previous alternative rock project Honey Is Cool. It is dark, ambient, and electronic, without much variation, and leaves you confused but strangely satisfied after listening. I really want to hear the album which offers this disturbing electronic mumble as a lead single. Fuck Buttons do an epic ambient drum & bass/ambient house remix of the song which perfectly and appropriately exaggerates all of those late emerging instrumental elements of the original. After a two year break from the public eye (which The Knife always shunned anyway, what with the masks in their live shows), the return is dramatic as it is long awaited, and it is hard to find any reason why the eventual result won't be an amazing album.
